Evercircle Hair Fork

A metal fork you slide through a twisted bun to hold it — no elastic, no spring, no plastic teeth to snap. It works on the same principle as a hairpin but with far more purchase, which is why it holds weight that a claw clip lets go of by lunchtime.

How to use it

Gather hair into a bun, twist or a low roll and hold it with one hand. Slide the fork in at the outer edge of the twist, angle it down under the bun so it catches the base, then push it up and through. The tension in the twist is what locks it — the fork holds the twist, it doesn't grip individual hairs. Works on wet hair straight out of the surf as well as on dry.

Who it's for

The hair that defeats elastics and claw clips: dense, heavy, coarse or curly. If your hair is fine or short, there may not be enough bulk in the twist for the fork to brace against, and it will work its way out.

Worth knowing

There is no hinge, spring or coating to fatigue, so it travels loose in a bag without a case and doesn't wear out the way a clip does.
