A 200g mask for hair that reads dry rather than damaged — the sort that takes conditioner and still feels rough through the ends by the afternoon. It is a rich, butter-based formula, so it earns its place on thick, coarse, curly and colour-treated hair more than on fine hair.

What's in it

• Argan oil — a light oil that absorbs into the hair rather than coating it.
• Olive oil and olive oil unsaponifiables — the softening fraction of olive oil, used to smooth the cuticle.
• Panthenol (pro-vitamin B5) — holds water in the hair fibre, so the softness lasts past the rinse.
• A brassica-derived conditioning base — where the slip and the comb-through come from.

How to use it

A small amount on shampooed, towel-dried hair, worked through mid-lengths and ends. Leave five minutes for a standard condition, up to twenty-five when hair needs more, then rinse thoroughly. As a leave-in on thick or curly hair, take a fraction of that amount on damp hair and skip the rinse.

Worth knowing

Palm-oil free and free from animal ingredients, scented with Valencia orange, lime and ylang ylang essential oils. On fine hair, keep it to the ends and off the roots, or it will read as weight.
