A tone-depositing conditioning mask in shade .21 .BA, from La Biosthetique's Glam + Colour range. It is for brunettes whose colour has warmed up or gone flat between appointments, and for anyone who wants to push a natural brown cooler without booking a colour service.

The actives

• Direct pigments — deposit tone straight onto the hair; this is what produces the immediate shift.
• Rice proteins — strengthen the hair and help hold the tone against fading.
• Cationic guar — conditions and cuts static, so the mask detangles as it works.
• Inulin and glycerine — soften and hydrate, which is why it doubles as a treatment.

How to use it

Shampoo first and towel-dry. Wearing gloves, apply evenly and comb through if needed. Three minutes for a light refresh, up to ten for a bolder result. Rinse until the water runs clear, and wipe any colour off skin straight away.

Worth knowing

Direct pigments deposit — they do not lift, so this will not make dark hair lighter. Expect three to five washes before it fades out. Porous and previously lightened sections take pigment faster than the rest, so start at the short end of the timing and check.
