Unwritten Massage Brush

A shampoo tool rather than a brush in the usual sense. It goes in with your shampoo and works the lather down onto the scalp, which is the part of a wash most people skim over while concentrating on the lengths.

How to use it

Apply shampoo, then move the brush in small circles across the whole scalp — hairline, part, crown and nape — for thirty seconds or so before you rinse. Keep it on the scalp and let the lather run down the lengths on its own; there's no need to drag it through the ends. It suits wet or dry hair.

What it does

Distributes shampoo evenly instead of leaving it sitting in one spot, and helps lift oil and product build-up from around the roots. The massage itself is the other half of it, and the reason a salon wash feels different from a home one.

Who it's for

Fine, normal and thick hair. Best kept for the shower — it isn't a detangling or styling brush.
